I know this
has not been updated in ages. I have not had much to discuss as
of late. Well sort of...
Sadly I had
to cancel our event at Locobazooka. Just 3 days before the show
our two sponsors backed out and we were unable to secure enough
financing to cover the costs of having the show. It was definitely
a great oppurtunity we had to pass up on. When we decided to become
a legal non-profit organization we realized we had to run shows
off of monies from sponsors. One of the things that comes along
with that is the possibility of last second back out. For normal
shows we have a multitude of sponsors and if one or a few back
out it doesnt hurt us too much. But, due to the nature of this
show we needed to secure 1 or 2 big sponsors instead of a many
smaller ones. We only had so much room to put banners on the ring
because a promotional show program was out of the question. So
when the sponsors backed out we were out of luck.
Our event scheduled
for Nichols College fell through too. The school administration
wanted us to secure a $5 million insurance policy for the event.
The most we could do was $1 as it is the highest that we could
get. The company doesn't offer insurance policies bigger than
that. The school administration would not relent from their $5
million policy request so the show had to be forgotten about.
Worcester State
College is welcoming us back for our 5th show. Our events there
are always our biggest and best shows. This show is shaping to
be even bigger and better than previous events at WSC. I will
release more information regarding the show as it is confirmed.
I was saddened
by the passing of Stu Hart. Myself along with the the other Board
of Directors of WAM send our sincerest condolences to the friends
and family of Stu Hart. I will be dedicating our show at WSC to
Stu Hart and we will have a 10 bell salute in his honor. Stu helped
make this business flourish and has produced many talented wrestlers
out of his school. In fact WAM's own Nick Neighborhood was trained
in Stu Hart's wrestling school which was called "The Dungeon".
I am also saddened
by the loss of Michael "Road Warrior Hawk" Hegstrand.
For those who are new to the wrestling scene Hawk along with his
partner Animal were known as the Tag Team "Legion of Doom"
which were one of the most popular tag teams of the earlier 90's.
He had some personal demons that he was dealing with for some
time now, but during the peak of his career he was one of the
best in the business. The condolences of the WAM Board of Directors
goes out to the friends and family of Michael Hegstrand.
WAM was profiled
in the recent addition of Wrestle America magazine. Out of the
30+ active wrestling promotions in New England only several made
it into the magazine. WAM is proud to have been selected for profiling
and thanks the magazine's editors for the promotion.
Stay tuned to
the website for further information pertaining to our upcoming
show at Worcester State College. WAM INVADES!
